Dr Alma Harris is Professor of Educational Leadership at the Institute of Education (IOE) London and currently Director of the Institute of Educational Leadership at the University of Malaya.
She is known internationally for her work on school improvement, focusing particularly on improving schools in challenging circumstances. Alma’s 2008 book Distributed Leadership in Schools: Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow has been translated into several languages.
Dr Harris is a past President of the International Congress of School Effectiveness and School Improvement, and holds visiting Professorial posts at the Moscow Higher School of Economics, Nottingham Business School, the University of Wales and the University of Southampton. Her latest research project is a comparative study of leadership development and practice across seven different education systems.
