Janette Gray is a Sister of Mercy and Senior Lecturer in Theology at Yarra Theological Union (YTU) within the University of Divinity, Melbourne. She was formerly the Principal of Jesuit Theological College, Melbourne and has also lectured at Notre Dame University Australia, Fremantle WA Campus, Murdoch University (WA), and as visiting lecturer at Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers in Providence College, Rhode Island (USA), EAPI, Manila, Philippines and the Margaret Beaufort Institute, Cambridge (UK). She completed her PHD at Cambridge on the Vatican II French Dominican theologian, Chenu, and has a particular interest in theology of Church especially Vatican II and its theologians. As well she has lectured in the theology of the human person, Creation and Ecology, Trinity, Christology and Christian-Muslim dialogue. Her research interests include the relationship of the Church to the contemporary world and politics, especially the issues raised by Catholic involvement in education and health provision, and improving its communication of the Gospel message in our post-secularised culture. She contributed to the book Catholic Women Speak (Paulist, 2015) which was distributed to participants at the second session of the Synod on the Family.
